I exhibited. I had an incredible time. Then 2025 came around, I had a clash and couldn’t go. FOMO. AGAIN. And now the 2026 conference is fast approaching and I’m already feeling it. So learn from me. Don’t miss this one. What I loved most about this conference wasn’t just the speakers or the content. It was the people. I knew there would be a few familiar faces, but I walked in and found this incredible collection of people I’d connected with over the years, both online and off, and then met so many more. The speakers are on stage one minute and sitting beside you in the audience the next. Everyone mingles. Everyone connects. Everyone is part of it. And doing all of that at Peppers in Noosa certainly doesn’t hurt! But really, the magic comes down to what Tash creates. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Tash online, through business circles and now as someone I’m very grateful to call a friend. Connection is one of her superpowers, and when you get into the room with the community she’s created, you feel it. In 2024, I was also an exhibitor, not long after releasing my first book, The Art of Bleisure, and the support I received from that room was incredibly special. So yes, I’m a little late to the party sharing this. But if you’ve been sitting on the fence, tomorrow is the last day to grab your ticket. Almost 17 years later, I’m back where I started. Almost 17 years later, I’m back where I started. In 2009, I started blogging on WordPress. I opened a Twitter account, got an ABN and registered my first business name. I was 22 years old and had absolutely NO idea where any of it would lead. This week, as we’ve been working incredibly hard to bring the new @retreatmehappy website to life, I realised I’m back running a website, writing blog articles and building an online platform again. Except this time, it’s a global retreat discovery and industry platform bringing together retreat guests, hosts, venues and suppliers. Isn’t it funny how things come full circle? Twenty-two-year-old Emma could never have mapped this path. She couldn’t have known that all those years of blogging, travelling, building businesses, speaking, marketing, hosting and attending retreats, consulting and connecting with people around the world would eventually come together like this. But none of it was wasted. Every skill. Every experience. Every business. Every trip. Every connection. Somehow, they’ve all brought me here. I get to talk about travel. I get to talk about business. I get to work in this beautiful retreat space that has given me so much and gives so much back to other people. And now I get to be the custodian of Retreat Me Happy and take it into its next chapter. I could never have mapped the path. But looking backwards, somehow it all makes sense. And I think that’s a pretty wonderful reminder that sometimes you don’t need to know exactly where you’re going.
