This is my dream. But it hasn’t happened yet. This is my dream.

But it hasn’t happened yet.

Today I was reminded twice of a dream I still hold that I’ve not yet achieved.

To see my book in an airport.
Or to clarify - being legitimately SOLD in an airport.

This is my book in Chicago Airport in the USA 🇺🇸 and she’s actually seen many, many airports these past few years. Just … in my hands or those of the wonderful people who’ve purchsed it and read it as they travelled.

But to my knowledge, not yet been sold in one.

Today I chatted with a fellow author and we shared the very real feelings of achieving one dream - publishing a book - while also not feeling the “success” we’d visioned for ourselves (you know, oprahsbookclub and airport shop features.)

I’m incredibly proud of my book. But I still know there’s more life for her yet.

And then tonight we were watching a show, and the lead character is an author. He arrived to the airport and saw a stack of his books. And I turned to my husband and said “that’s my dream. One day I’ll get to have that dream come true too.”

And then I cried.

Tears for what’s not yet been achieved.
And tears for the future me who’ll see that dream be a reality.

It might be this book, it might be 5th or 10th book.

But that dream is still a dream - it’s just yet to come true.

P.s. if you got any sweet contacts in airport bookshops, feel free to let them know about my book 🙏🥰📚✈️

This is one of my favourite childhood memories. A This is one of my favourite childhood memories.

And the funny thing is, it isn’t even from a trip I took.

When I was about six years old, my dad returned home from a conference in Nepal carrying a small package for my sister and me. Inside were these beautiful traditional outfits.

I can still remember the excitement of opening them.

I can remember wanting to put them on immediately.

I can remember being completely fascinated by this place called Nepal.

At six years old, I couldn’t have pointed to it on a map. But somehow, through those clothes and the stories my dad told, I felt connected to a culture and a country on the other side of the world.

It may have been the first time I realised that travel could happen through stories, memories, people and objects.

Long before I ever got on a plane.

Nepal became one of those places that lived in my imagination for years.

Then, when I was 18, I finally visited.

Since then, I’ve returned multiple times, including trekking to Everest Base Camp, and every visit has deepened my love for this incredible country, its people, culture, spirituality and sense of adventure.

There’s something magical about Nepal.

And I’ve learned that I’m not the only one who feels that way.

So many people have had Nepal sitting quietly on their bucket list for years, waiting for the right time.

That’s why I’m so excited to be taking a small group there this October.

If Nepal has ever captured your imagination, if you’ve always been curious, or if you’ve been waiting for a sign to finally experience it for yourself, perhaps this is it. 🩵

Comment “NEPAL” or send me a message and I’d love to share the details.
