Travel The World, Make Money, And Live A Life You Love Now…

Did you know I’m now the custodian of Retreat Me Did you know I’m now the custodian of Retreat Me Happy?

You can find us here @retreatmehappy_

And I use the word custodian very intentionally.

Retreat Me Happy existed before me. It launched in 2019, and I now have the privilege of taking it into its next chapter.

And I have a pretty big vision for where it can go.

I’ve spent years in the retreat world as a host, consultant, traveller and participant, and I’ve seen just how powerful retreats can be.

But I’ve also seen how disconnected the industry can be.

Guests are looking for incredible retreats.

Hosts are looking for venues and suppliers.

Venues, photographers, facilitators, travel partners and other brilliant businesses are looking for retreat hosts to work with.

So why not bring that world together?

That’s what we’re building with Retreat Me Happy.

A place to discover and be discovered.

And importantly, I don’t want it to be a directory where you simply upload a listing and hope someone stumbles across it.

I want us to champion our members. Share their stories. Promote their retreats. Showcase their venues. Share their expertise and help connect them with the people looking for what they offer.

And we take 0% commission on bookings.

If you’re a retreat host, venue or supplier working in the retreat industry, I’d love you to join us.

We’re still at the beginning of this next chapter, and there’s SO much more to come.

Bringing the world of retreats together.

Discover. Connect. Retreat.
I’ve been sick for 6 days now. Even the cat is I’ve been sick for 6 days now.

Even the cat is like “lady, is this thing done yet?”

Thankful for the cuddles & care from my boys.

Influenza A is no joke peeps!
Instagram ghosted me. Yup - my new business acco Instagram ghosted me.

Yup - my new business account for Retreat Me Happy, is completely hidden from view.

(So I had to make a new one! Please show us the love here @retreatmehappy_ )

And actually, it’s not new. It’s been there for 6 years. I acquired the account and all the audience with the business.

I’d been working on rebranding, updating messaging, growing our audience and bringing them along for the journey.

Then …

I get messages saying “hey, I can’t see the page.”

“Are you still on insta?”

A huge part of my commitment with this business is the promotion opportunity for the people who list with us. For the retreats, the hosts, the suppliers and the venues. And one of our channels goes dark.

So I gave it two weeks.

Have patience they say.

And I can see it! This whole time, even now, I can see it! But you can’t.

And thus, I surrendered. And I started again.

It’s a reminder that we do not own these channels. Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Tik Tok (which one of my accounts is also set to “ineligible for recommendation” - I’m not sure what I did to anger the promo gods but hey 🤷‍♀️) - none of them.

But we do own our reputation.
Our connections.
How we choose to show up.
And how we continue on through challenges.

It did also make me think about ALL my content and ALL my channels for ALL my businesses and perhaps … something needed to change. And changes are being made.

But for Retreat Me Happy, I do believe an Instagram presence is good for us. So please do head over and give us some love as we rebuild : @retreatmehappy_

We of course have the website. Our newsletter. And even LinkedIn page here too.

All support is welcome.

I know there’s so many opportunities to come for this retreat world we’re nurturing, and this will be just a blip in our long journey ahead.

“I thought you were moving to India!?” In cas “I thought you were moving to India!?”

In case you missed it, I shared recently that my husband, son and I are moving to India for three months in November. 🇮🇳

And yes, I have always said three months. But I also know that “WE’RE MOVING TO INDIA” makes for a pretty good hook. 😂

Of course, moving permanently is different to spending an extended period somewhere.

But I also don’t want to minimise what we’re doing.

For all intents and purposes, we are moving.

We’re packing up our home because we’ll be renting it out.
We’re making arrangements for our cat and our car.
My husband has organised leave from work. We’re navigating school, work, travel and all the logistics that come with relocating your family to another country.

Three months is still a BIG adventure.

And quite frankly, I think it’s pretty courageous too.

Maybe it’s the first step towards living in India for longer. Maybe somewhere else. Maybe we’ll come home after three months and be perfectly happy with that.

Who knows?

There’s another reason I keep saying we’re moving…

India feels like home to me.

I’ve visited 18 times. I’ve spent extended periods there of up to 2 months. I have friends who don’t say, “Come to my house for tea.” They say, “Come home.”

When I arrive at my favourite hotel in Delhi, The Imperial, they say, “Welcome home.”

And that’s genuinely how it feels.

So yes, we’re moving to India.

At this stage, it’s for three months.

But who knows what this chapter might open up for us?

And if India has been calling you too, come and visit!

I partner with travel company @indusbound to plan beautiful, bespoke luxury travel across India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka.

Who knows… maybe I’ll see you there 🙏

Happy Father’s Day to my dad, AKA Papa, Brian Lo Happy Father’s Day to my dad, AKA Papa, Brian Lovell. ❤️

Feeling especially nostalgic today.

Our hearts are very much with Nepal with everything that’s happening right now. It’s a country Dad and I have such a special connection to. 🇳🇵

That connection started when I was six years old. Dad returned from a conference in Nepal with stories of this magical country and its wonderful people, and beautiful traditional outfits for my little sister and me.

I wore mine so proudly and vowed that one day I would visit.

And I did.

My first trip was at 18, and over the years I returned again and again, including trekking to Everest Base Camp in 2015, where I met my wonderful guide Gopal, who became a dear friend.

Then in 2017, Dad and I finally got to experience Nepal together.

We met in Kathmandu, flew to Lukla and set off on a five-day trek with Gopal and our Sherpa Gelu.

Dad had never done anything like it.

We trekked through the mountains, stayed with a Sherpa family, played cards, laughed until our bellies hurt and made memories I’ll treasure forever.

When we finally walked back through the gates at Lukla, Dad fell into my arms with tears flowing and said, “Thank you. Thank you.”

A full-circle moment from that little girl wearing her Nepalese outfit and dreaming of going there one day.

Last year, Gopal came to Australia and we reunited by the beach in Coogee. I got to introduce him to my son and meet his daughter.

And I know that one day, when the time is right, we’ll all return to our beautiful Nepal again. For me & my little family sooner.

Thank you, Dad, for the stories, the friendships, the invitations to travel and a lifetime of adventure.

There’s still more to come. ❤️🇳🇵
