The friendship that was not on my 2026 bingo card. The friendship that was not on my 2026 bingo card. This is Diane Hendricks. According to Forbes and Guinness World Records, she’s the world’s richest self-made woman. She’s a multi-billionaire. And on my last night in the USA, we hung out at a local restaurant near my cousin’s house. Because we’re friends. This was actually the 4th time we’ve hung out since December last year. A few months ago, I opened a Forbes article about the top self-made people in the world, and there she was at #9. I’m like, “Hey! That’s my friend Diane.” 🤣 But when we hang out, we don’t really talk about that stuff. We talked about being mothers, our cats and the funny local baseball mascot. Finn climbed onto her lap. We showed each other pictures of our families and talked about future travel plans. She was genuinely curious about our lives and openly shared about hers. Diane is a remarkable businesswoman with a remarkable story. But she’s also so grounded and human. She loves her local area, spends time there and gives back there. So many lessons in life, simply being in her presence. And how did we meet? Through my amazing Cuzzy Bill, of course. He was part of a veterans organisation she supports and she loved his story. She’s continued to check in on him and make an effort for him. He told her about me, so she insisted we go for lunch when I was next in town. That was back in December. And now, here we are. On my final day, Diane came to see me and Finn. We talked about Bill’s book, looked at pictures from the book launch (which she attended), and she and Bill got to catch up too. She came to hang with us. Our friend. Life is so wild. It’s extraordinary and ordinary all at once. I tried not to slip into interview mode too much. My media and author hat slips on easily. 😂 I’m deeply curious about her journey, her work and her ongoing ambition. In her late 70s, she’s still running multiple businesses and seeking out new opportunities and experiences. She doesn’t give interviews often. But she said one day, she will for me. Until then, I’ll remain grateful for this unexpected friendship and the effort she’s made for me and my family. #grateful #ambition
Another farewell. It never gets easier. I’ve Another farewell. It never gets easier. I’ve been doing it for 17 years. This is my Cuzzy Bill. My grandma’s cousin. He should be a distant relative - by relation and by geography. But we are so so close. He’s come to Australia twice in my life. And I’ve been to see him … 17, maybe 18x in the USA. In 2009, he was the same age as my grandfather when he had passed. So I said goodbye. Properly. I told him I loved him. And I’d try come again. Then we did it again and again and again. We face time, we hang out, we wrote a book together across continents - A Life of Magic. As remarkable as he is - still doing tricks, still driving (much to my dismay) and still living independently - things are getting harder and he is slowing down. This visit was a challenge as we navigated the reality of that. But that’s love isn’t it. You show up for the people you love. And you make the time. Any time you can. He has done more for so many people in their lives, than one person does for a few. So many people consider him a best friend and the person who changed their path. But we are family And I will be there for him as much as I can, in whatever way I can. He loves me, he loves my boy, he loves my family, and all who love him love us too. We’re off again 🇺🇸➡️🇦🇺 Delayed We’re off again 🇺🇸➡️🇦🇺 Delayed out of Chicago but we made it to LA on time & now the long flight back to Sydney. Yep, it’s not quite home time yet. Some fam bam time in Sydney while Matt’s busy working for the last of the school holidays. Send us sleepy vibes (Finn’s already got them 🤣)
We made it to the trail! I used to walk this eve We made it to the trail! I used to walk this everyday on my visits, even when Finn was in a carrier on my chest in the near 0 temperature on our first visit. But time seems to go faster and faster now, and also getting a 5 year old’s schedule to match up with the weather and the timings of the day … proves challenging. So with 30 minutes until we left for the airport - I said, we are doing it! He cried because a bug got near him. I had to carry him a bit. We were sweaty. And it was a fast paced walk back to the house in time. But that short time in nature felt so so reenergising. I love the different trees here and the familiar yet so foreign scenery. 🌿 it’s always worth it. Even a short time 🙏

My secret to keeping somewhat calm while travelling this trip & my daily self care time out … @drinkmelo_ It really does … mellow you out! I’ve waited MONTHS, maybe YEARS to try this. And finally got round to ordering a pack to my Cuzzy’s house to enjoy during my stay. Sadly not available in Australia yet - only USA 🇺🇸, but …. I hope that changes soon. Why so melo? It’s got KAVA in it - which comes from the South Pacific islands and it literally … mellows you out. So instead of having a relaxing alcoholic drink … which actually sometimes winds you up. This chills you out, big time. And! The flavours are insane. I was shocked by the Banana 🍌! Thought it would be my least fave, but it was a close second behind the lime 🍋‍🟩 And again surpise, the guava 💗 came in third. But all seriously delicious. NOT a sponsored post! Just a genuine fan, who has loved watching the journey and couldn’t wait to get my hands on one. Now, just working out how I can keep getting them!
